Dear Colleague:
Today, the Lenovo Group and IBM announced plans to combine our PC
businesses and enter into a long-term business relationship in sales,
services, financing and IT operations.    Lenovo's and IBM's PC businesses
will combine into the public company, and both will hold equity in that
company.   I am honored to serve in the new Lenovo with my good friend
Chairman Yang.
By combining PCD and Lenovo, the new Lenovo becomes the world’s
number-three PC company with the capability of selling in virtually every
market on earth.  The new Lenovo brings together PCD’s global presence and
iconic brands with market-leadership in China, the third-largest economy on
earth and the number-two PC market.
The power of the new Lenovo will be unleashed quickly.  I don’t foresee
a lengthy period of settling in.  The cultures of IBM’s Personal Computing
Division and Lenovo are very similar.  Our values meet at many points.   We
share a commitment to meaningful innovation, to client success and to
integrity in all that we do.
We  also  share  a commitment to our people.  Chairman Yang and I agree
that you and your new colleagues from PCD are our greatest resource, the heart
and soul of the new Lenovo.  We have much to offer each other, much to
learn from each other and much to achieve together.
The creation of the new Lenovo gives us new and exciting opportunities.  I
look forward to working with you and making these opportunities a reality.
Sincerely,

Steve Ward
