Otellini offers sympathy, thanks to Chengdu employees
In a note he sent Wednesday to Intel employees at the company's Chengdu site, CEO Paul Otellini expressed his sympathy for the extraordinary tragedy they are living through, and thanked them for their courage.
"I first wanted to say how relieved I was to hear that there were no serious injuries to our employees. You should know that your safety and well being is far more important to me and to Intel than anything else. As we in the rest of the world watch the news and have come to understand the scope of the tragedy derived from the earthquake, we are moved and made proud by the actions of you and your fellow citizens," Paul wrote.
On a personal level, Paul also related to Chengdu employees his own family's experience with a horrific quake—his grandparents lost everything in the San Francisco quake of 1906. Here is the full text of Paul's note to Chengdu employees in both English and Chinese.
