Removing the keyboard
- Turn off the computer; then disconnect the AC adapter and all cables from the computer. Wait for a few minutes, till the inside of the computer cools, before you start the following procedures.
- Close the computer display, and turn the computer over.
- Remove the battery pack.
- If the keyboard is attached with four screws, as shown in the next drawing, remove the screws (1).
If the keyboard is attached with three screws, as shown in the next drawing, remove the screws (1).
Note: Remember that each screw you remove in this step must be reinstalled in a screwhole appropriate for it. That is, a screw marked (1) in the drawing must be reinstalled in a screwhole marked (1). To make sure that each screw is reinstalled in the correct screwhole, check it against the screw identification key next to the screwhole. - Now unlatch the keyboard. Put your thumb on the area marked (2) in the drawing, and push hard in the direction shown by the arrow. The keyboard will open up slightly.
- Pull the keyboard a little toward you (3), and then detach the connector (4). Now the keyboard has been removed.
Installing the keyboard- Reinstall the keyboard by attaching it to the connector (1).
- Insert the keyboard. Make sure that its far edges are under the frame, as shown by the arrows.
- Press gently on the areas marked in the drawing, and slide the keyboard toward you.
- Make sure that the near edges of the keyboard, marked in the drawing, are under the frame.
- Close the computer display, and turn the computer over. If you removed four screws to remove keyboard, reinstall them (1).
If you removed three screws to remove the keyboard, reinstall them (1).
Note: To make sure that each screw is reinstalled in the correct screwhole, check it against the screw identification key next to the screwhole. - Reinstall the battery.
- Turn the computer over again. Connect the AC adapter and cables to the computer; then turn it on.
